Disney Dollars, issued by the Walt Disney Company from 1987 to 2014, resembled U.S. currency but featured Disney characters like Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Donald Duck, Pluto, Goofy, or Dumbo. They incorporated anti-counterfeiting elements, including microprinting, reflective ink, serial numbers, glitter specks, and Scrooge McDuck’s signature as Treasurer. Produced in 172 varieties and $1 to $50 denominations, they are no longer made but remain redeemable at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disney Stores, and parts of Castaway Cay. As popular collectibles, their value often exceeds face value, so using regular U.S. dollars is usually wiser.
