Description
A historic piece of Cold War history with this authentic Mikhail Gorbachev autographed photo capturing the moment the last Soviet leader spoke at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library after receiving the inaugural Ronald Reagan Freedom Award on May 4, 1992.
This striking 8″ x 10″ signed Mikhail Gorbachev photograph shows Gorbachev at the podium bearing the official seal of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Center for Public Affairs. Boldly signed in blue ink at the lower center in Cyrillic as “М. Горбачёв” (M. Gorbachev), the signature was personally obtained in New York on April 19, 1997 at the British Airways Terminal, JFK Airport (handwritten on verso).
Historical significance: The Ronald Reagan Freedom Award is the highest civilian honor bestowed by the Reagan Foundation. Mikhail Gorbachev was the very first recipient, personally honored by President Reagan for his monumental role in ending the Cold War, dismantling the Iron Curtain, and promoting global freedom. The 1992 ceremony at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley marked one of the most symbolic moments of 20th-century diplomacy.
A rare, museum-quality piece uniting two of the most influential figures of the late 20th century—perfect for serious collectors of presidential, Soviet, or Cold War autographs.
